2018 HISC Holiday Dinner Dance

Katie Sparks, Social Chair

On December 1st, donned in suits, tuxes, cocktail dresses and gowns, 101 HISC members arrived at the Lighthouse Point Yacht club ready to celebrate the holidays in style! Upon entering the lobby, we gathered around the holiday tree and allowed Christeen to capture us looking our best. At check in, customized table cards resting casually on wine corks holders, set the beach holiday mood. The music was starting to play and the lights were dimming. It was 6:30pm and time for cocktails. The dancing and fun were already in full swing!

The room took on a glow from the lovely driftwood centerpieces, atop a sanded mirror, adorned with candles, lights, and custom HISC ornaments. Conversations were buzzing in various spots around the room; some were seated, some were dancing, everyone appeared to be enjoying the evening. At 7pm, Christeen and I opened the party by welcoming our guests, thanking the LHPYC staff, and introducing the band. The live band was an exciting addition this year. Sekond Nature entertained us all night long from start to finish.  Bob called the brief meeting to order and few announcements later, we were back to our festivities.  Later, we were seated for our meal of Prime Rib, Chicken Piccata, or Salmon, finished off with Black Forest Cake and Coffee.

After dinner, we were surprised by Christeen’s solo performance on stage.  She was great! If you missed it, we have it on video. After much dancing, the night ended with the HISC tradition of the Cha Cha Slide and the Cupid Shuffle; some of us better than others. It was a fabulous night; beautifully decorated venue, great food, fantastic people, and wonderful entertainment! Our band truly enjoyed playing for us. They loved it that we danced ALL night long. I think it’s safe to say we know how to have a good time!

Thank you to my fellow Social Committee members: Christeen Pozniak (also photographer), Pat Schuldenfrei, Martine Montgomery, Melisa Gingold, and Sabina Boyden. Additionally, thank you to Jan Miskin, Sherry and Jeff Sussman, and Bob Schuldenfrei for helping us with party set up on Saturday.  Thank you to LHPYC for providing for your fantastic venue and great customer service. Thank you to SekondNature Band for entertaining us all night long. And, thank you to all the HISC members who attended and celebrated with us. You truly made it a great evening. Happy Holidays and we’ll see you at the Change of Command Dance 2/23/19!
