St Pattie's Day Green Race
A new race was created to kick off the 2026 Race season. The St Pattie's Day Green Race, is part of our new Fun Coastal Races developed to get everyone who has a boat a chance to experience racing. Don't misunderstand, these races are still scored, but there is, hopefully, a little more camaraderie and maybe a less challenging course.
The Green Race was held on Sunday, March 15. Originally forecasted with rain and wind gusts, our race day dawned with pretty good conditions. Five boats turned up for the race. We implemented a virtual start from either the North (Hillsboro Inlet ) or South (Port Everglades) with a rounding point midway near the Commercial Pier.
As our Commodore likes to say, "It gave everyone a chance to shake off the cobwebs and get back into racing". There was plenty of that to go around. Especially for the Race chair. It's all about the learning curve.
New to this race was the absence of the beach committee and the after race party being held another day and at a pub rather than a house. In addition to making it easier for the racers to all attend this also gave the race chair a chance to flail through the results program.
Our race results are published on this website after the awards party.
