Nearly all of the club races are started from the Beach Committee that setup about 3/4 of a mile from the Hillsboro Inlet. Residents of the Condos along the beach often come out to watch the boats as their prepare for their starts.
The Beach Committee are all volunteers and enjoy the fellowship of other members and actively participate in the Race Start and Finish activities. There's a lot to be done to make sure the racers set off at the right time and are prepared to cross the start line, one of the hectic moments of every race.
The volunteers get to spend most of the morning and some of the early afternoon on the beach and can take a break to enjoy the water once each of the races has started.
Beach Committee is a great way to meet other members and to get an introduction to racing without having to be aboard a boat. Knowing how to setup for the start is very important to racers and members of the Beach Committee get to see how the various boats approach that challenge.
If you would like to find out more about the Beach Committee please contact our Racing Chair or our Commodore.
Hope to see you out there, contact the Racing chair or Commodore for details on where to meet with the others, on the Beach!
