Past Commodore, Bob Schuldenfrei, has put together a lot of the club history and it is included here, the documents are broken into decades.
Spinning the Yarn, the History of the Hillsboro Inlet Sailing Club, as the name explains is the history of our club. But it is more than that. I began the book with a quote:
History is the witness that testifies to the passing of time;
it illumines reality, vitalizes memory, provides guidance in
daily life and brings us tidings of antiquities.
Marcus Tullius Cicero, circa 50 BCE
This book is about those “tidings of antiquities.” When I joined in 2009, I began to hear the stories from the founders, who were quite old and many of them had passed, about our past. I asked old-timers if these stories had been written down and was told that they were not. Being new to the HISC, I asked if someone would put this tale on paper. Alas, no one would or could do it. In 2018 I began to collect, edit, and record our story. This book was printed in time to celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2021.
