About Cruising

Cruising with HISC

HISC hosts a variety of cruising events throughout the year, giving members the opportunity to explore new destinations, enjoy time on the water, and build lasting friendships. Our cruising calendar includes destination cruises, local weekend outings, and even land-based adventures for members who prefer to stay shoreside. Members are also encouraged to share their personal cruising plans with fellow club members, making it easy to connect for spontaneous adventures.

A typical HISC cruise features one or more host boats that serve as gathering points at the destination, often rafting together to create a fun and social atmosphere. Cruise hosts organize activities both on the water and ashore, helping make each trip memorable and enjoyable for everyone involved.

Our cruises range from nearby local destinations to extended adventures across the waves, including trips to destinations such as Lake Worth, Bimini, and Biscayne Bay.

Many members also enjoy informal “ad hoc” cruises, where boats meet up and travel together simply for the pleasure of sharing the journey. There’s nothing quite like seeing another club member’s boat sailing alongside you on the horizon.

While cruise hosts coordinate activities and logistics, cruises are designed to be relaxed and social gatherings. The club may provide food for some events, and raft-ups are often potluck style — with plenty of great food and camaraderie to go around.

We recognize that not all members own boats, so we strive to include activities that welcome participation from both boaters and non-boaters alike, with events accessible by land and sea.

Each year, a special cruising flag is designed and presented during the Change of Command Flag Ceremony. Members may earn a cruising flag by hosting a cruise event or by accumulating raft-up participation points throughout the year.

For questions about this year’s cruising schedule and upcoming adventures, please contact Vern Lustgraaf or Kelly Schiffer.
