Bill Nederlanden Race Trophy
Bill Nederlanden Coastal Race: The Nederlanden is a new name and trophy for one of the oldest races that the HISC holds annually. In its current form it only goes back to 2014. From the time the club was formed in 1971 there had always been a large club- sponsored regatta in the middle of the season. In 1983 it was given the name Buck Carlisle Memorial. That was the year Vice Commodore Buck Carlisle was to assume Commodore of the HISC. Sadly, Buck died before he could be installed at Change of Command. To honor the late Commodore the mid-summer race was named after him. In 2014, it was suggested to the Board that very few people knew Buck and there was a gaping hole in our honor system. We had no event named for our first Commodore. So, this race was renamed the Bill Nederlanden Coastal Race.
