2023 April Racing report

Over the past couple of weeks, our sailing club has had a fantastic racing program with four exhilarating races in great conditions. From light and shifty winds to strong gusts and clear blue skies, each race presented a unique challenge to the sailors.

The first race took place on March 26th and was marked by strong 17 knot winds. Despite the tricky conditions, the sailors showed great skill and determination, and the JAM race was won by Endurance, skippered by Ron Schaper. In second place was Chris Whitlock with Summer Wind. The second race, held immediately after, had the same wind conditions, which allowed the sailors to showcase their speed and tactics. The race was won again by Endurance and followed closely Contrails, skippered by Jim Wallace, with Summer Wind coming in third. After the races, the participants got together at the home of Barbara and Jim Wallace to celebrate a beautiful day of racing and share their stories.

The third race, held on April 2nd, was the most challenging of the series, with light winds, which made racing difficult. Tactics played a significant role due to the light winds and strong current, with Endurance once again emerging as the winner. Jim Wallace with Contrails finished in second place, and Summer Wind took third. For the fourth race of the series, also held on April 2nd the wind picked up slightly and the sun was shining. In the end, Contrails managed to take first place, followed by Endurance, with Duet coming in third. This time the after-race party was hosted by Kelli and Chris Whitlock who graciously offered their home. These parties are always a lot of fun and complemented by food and drinks provided by the guests.

Overall, the racing program so far has been a great success, with excellent turnout and great competition. The sailors showed impressive skills and sportsmanship, and the races were conducted in a safe and professional manner. We would like to thank all the participants and volunteers who made the program possible, and we look forward to more great racing in the future.
