Enjoy your Summer!
The HISC Youth Sailing Program returns in August with advance registration for our Fall Session.
Let your friends and neighbors know about our program by directing them to our website.
The Program is open to children between the ages of 8-18. Each child is required to purchase and wear a USCG approved life vest and enclosed-toe water shoes.
During the instructional sailing on the lake, HISC instructors use small rowboats (outfitted with electric motors) to provide on-the-water training and as an aid to safety. The children sail either the International Optimist Pram or O'pen Bic skiffs. These boats were selected because of safety and ease of instruction. The Optimist Pram is the largest sailing class in the world and is considered to be the premier training platform. The O'pen Bic provides a quick and responsive sail option for more advanced sailors.
Our classes are held at Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach. We launch our boats near the Splash Adventure Park in the Southern most lake. When you enter Quiet Waters Park, you will stop first at the entrance kiosks (Park fee is $3.00 per vehicle) Then take a left and proceed to the Splash Adventure Park past the Main Office.
We welcome volunteers to assist with the handling of the boats before and after classes. The more hands, the lighter the work!
