Registration for the Fall Youth Sailing Program begins in August. The registration and waiver forms can be found on the club website: www.hisc.org

The class dates are OCT 17, 24, 31 & NOV 7 (Weather day - NOV 14). Class instructional time starts at 9am each Saturday. Classes generally run 3 hours with a break midway. Please try to arrive 15-20min early to help get the boats and gear organized.

Our Program is open to children age 8-18. Sailing experience is not necessary, however, all participants must be proficient swimmers. Safety is an important part of our Program. Each child is required to purchase and wear a USCG approved life vest and enclosed-toe water shoes.

During the instructional sailing on the lake, HISC instructors use small rowboats (outfitted with electric motors) to provide on-the-water training and as an aid to safety. The children sail either the International Optimist Pram or O'pen Bic skiffs. These boats were selected because of safety and ease of instruction. The Optimist Pram is the largest sailing class in the world and is considered to be the premier training platform. The O'pen Bic provides a quick and responsive sail option for more advanced sailors.

We will be launching the boats near the Splash Adventure Park in the Southern most lake. When you enter Quiet Waters Park, you will stop first at the entrance kiosks (Park fee is $3.00 per vehicle) Then take a left and proceed to the Splash Adventure Park just past the Main Office.

We welcome parent volunteers to assist with the handling of the boats before and after classes. The more hands, the lighter the work!
