LANDLUBBERS PARTY 2023
This year’s Landlubbers Party, which was hosted again by Barbara & Joe Gomez, proved to be well attended by our members and guests. We counted 40 people on our sign-in sheet, and estimated a handful more that neglected to sign in. By all counts, everyone seemed to have enjoyed the event. Cruising points were earned by boat owners in attendance.
As this was also a General Meeting, Commodore Mike started off the short meeting, followed by Eduardo, who spoke in detail about the upcoming Labor Day Cruise to WPB. David Burdett provided an update on membership, and Joe Gomez reported on our July financial situation.
As always, there was no shortage of food, to the delight of everyone. The hosts provided Cuban sandwich platters, and guests brought in all sorts of delicious dishes. Barry Simmons and Jamie Remacle donated bottled water. This year’s event also included a well participated dessert contest. The entries were so tasty that the judges had difficulty in selecting the winner. In fact, two participants tied for 1st place. Prizes are to be awarded at the next General Meeting in September. Worth mentioning is that although not selected as a winner by our panel of judges, the popular vote went to Paul Alcock for his Japanese Cheesecake topped with blueberry compote, as his entry was totally gone by the time the selections we declared.
