Holiday Party 2024
Release your inspiration...
Preparations for the holiday party began many months before thoughts of sugar plums danced in your head. Venues for parties have become difficult and expensive to book. We got lucky and booked Deer Creek 1 week before the prices went up and we were grandfathered in at the lower price.
Thoughts for decorations began in October with emails and ideas being tossed around. The group who took on the task decided this year’s theme would trend toward a minimalist direction.
A night was booked with the group for dinner and testing out decoration ideas, The best part of the evening was catching up with club friends, enjoying wine and custom mixed concoctions from the Bee Ella Fizz buggy stash.
Supplies were laid out; ideas were tested, and the table centerpieces came together by the end of the evening. As I type this recap, I am still finding glitter on my dining room table and my computer keyboard!.
The DJ was booked 2 months out and a deposit paid out. Music ideas were shared and feedback from last year’s party taken into consideration
Our Social director Shari was booked by her work to be out of town the week of the holiday party, so Jamie Remacle and I took on the task of party decorating. Keeping it simple paid off and we were able to get into the venue at 4, decorate the tables, work with the staff on the party layout and have the room ready by 5. A bit of preparation for us and it was then time for a pre- party libation to celebrate the kickoff of the Holiday party and congratulate ourselves on getting the venue ready.
57 people registered and 56 arrived for a night of friends, food and dancing. Our Commodore tore up the dance floor as did our core group of dancing sailors. The Holiday party is always well attended and a lovely way to close out the year with friends.
I hope to see you at the Holiday party 2025.
Thank you to everyone who attended and to everyone who helped.
