2025 Spring Youth Sailing

After just two lessons, our newest group of young sailor's continue to surprise and delight. This season's class is approximately half returning sailors and half brand new, non-club participants. The winds on the first class were about 8-10mph, which is normally a good speed, altho a little much for a novice.

On the second class day, the winds were exceptionally strong closer to 13mph.  While our young group of sailors had much determination, they lacked the experience to prevent turning over.  Nearly, every boat experienced a capsize last Saturday, and some several times, still, our instructors continued to coach and encourage. It was a great learning day.

On the third class, the wind was mild and coming directly at the shoreline, making their launch more difficult.  Thanks to all of our volunteers for helping to push the boats out into the lake and coaching the kids thru the difficult task of steering upwind.  One unlucky sailor got stuck in the weeds!

This Saturday, is our final class until the fall. It promises to be another windy day. We'll see how much they've learned this session.
