Register now for Fall Youth Sailing

The fall session of the HISC youth sailing program begins on October 19th.  Our session consists of four Saturday lessons from 9am to 12n.  (Oct 19 & 26 and Nov 2 & 9).

Children must be between the ages of 8 -18 years old.  Sailing experience is not necessary but children must be proficient swimmers. Each sailor must pass a simple swim test on the first day - swimming 50 yards in clothes and shoes.

Our classes are taught by US Sailing certified instructors and supported by other club members who are volunteering their time to coach the kids and keep them safe.

HISC owns 7 Optimist Prams and 8 O'pen Skiffs.  These are single-handed boats that were chosen for their safety and ease of instruction.

Speaking of safety, each child is required to bring and wear a USCG approved life vest.  (Type 3).  Also, sailors must wear enclosed toe, non skid watershoes.

We operate in Quiet Waters Park in a lake behind Splash Adventure Water Park. When you enter Quiet Waters Park (401 S. Powerline Road, Deerfield Beach), you will stop at the kiosks. (Admission is $3.00 per vehicle). Take a left at the first stop sign and proceed to the Splash Adventure Water Park. Drive to the very end of the Splash Adventure parking lot. Park and walk through the gate to the lake.

The very best part, is that this program is free of charge to children or grandchildren of club members.   We encourage you to invite your children's friends, however, their cost will be $200 for the session (4 lessons).

This is an outside activity, so it should go without saying, please make sure everyone in your party has sunscreen and drinking water. Other items that can aid your enjoyment are: Snacks, hats, sunglasses and a towel.  Plus, we encourage you to bring a chair and umbrella as there isn't any shade down by the lake.
